Mike has over 20 years of experience in intellectual property law. Mike’s experience includes patent prosecution, litigation (including pre-litigation audits, litigation strategy and Hatch-Waxman related issues), counseling, portfolio management, due diligence, patentability, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, licensing and development and implementation of progressive global pharmaceutical patent strategies in the small molecule, biotechnology, vaccine and drug delivery device areas for clients ranging from start-up to Fortune 100 companies. Prior to joining Hoxie & Associates, Mike was Assistant General Counsel and Chief Patent Prosecution Counsel at Wyeth, where he was responsible for all substantive and administrative aspects of obtaining patent protection for Wyeth’s intellectual property worldwide. Prior to joining Wyeth, Mike was a Senior Member at Cozen O’Connor, in Philadelphia, PA, where he had an extensive prosecution / counseling / litigation patent practice employing several associate attorneys and patent agents, and he was the head of Cozen’s Small Molecule chemical / pharmaceutical patent practice. Prior to moving his practice to Cozen O’Connor, Mike was an Equity Partner at Woodcock Washburn, also in Philadelphia.
Mike is a registered patent attorney and a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and District of Columbia bars. Mike has a B.S. in chemistry from Brooklyn College, a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Graduate School of City University of New York, and a J.D. from the University of Miami Law School.
