Before joining Hoxie & Associates LLC, Haiou worked for a number of years as an intellectual property attorney at a large New York firm, where she handled patents in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, focusing on small molecule drugs, immunotherapy, and CRISPR-Cas. She also conducted freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, and invalidity analysis. Haiou is a registered patent attorney and a member of the bar in New Jersey and New York. Haiou has a B.S. in cell and molecular biology from the University of Science and Technology of China, and a J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law. Haiou also earned her Ph.D. in biological chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. Her doctoral thesis was on the measures of the dynamics of G protein interaction with the ribosome and its applications to antibiotic screening.
